Prince of Wales backs scheme putting business leaders in communities
8:00am Thursday 23rd February 2012
A scheme which places senior business people on full time secondments to work within local communities will receive the backing of The Prince of Wales and Prime Minister David Cameron at Business in the Community's (BITC) Summit in London today.
Following a successful pilot, with 20 business leaders already working in areas of social and economic need, including Teesside and Sunderland, Business in the Community aims to create a nationwide network of more than 550 people over 5 years in 160 areas of need across England.
Lloyds Banking Group has committed £200,000 to fund the training and infrastructure of the programme. It will also commit to seconding up to 20 senior staff as Business Connectors over the next 3 years.
